"You guys are crazy. The musicianship, the lyrics, and even the style of music are all great imo. This isn't Bright Eyes' style, and it's not even bright eyes, so why the fuck are you all comparing it to bright eyes? the reason he started making music under a different name was so he could do something a little different."

AMEN!

conor oberst is bright eyes, he'll never escape that.

and it just plain sucks no matter what name it's under.

go fuck yourself.

Sometimes I wonder why I take reviews on Sputnik very lightly... and then I remember it's because many, many reviewers are elitist. But then when that's not enough, it finally comes to me when I remember that some of the staff has way too much influence and is even applauded when they simply tell someone to fuck themselves after giving their opinions on something.

After listening to this more, I'm bumping my rating to 3.5. It really is a great album, methinks. A grower, no doubt, but still great.

I really love Conor Oberst and Bright Eyes, and I really really liked the last CO and MVB album a lot. I bought the album without hearing the music because I haven't been disappointed yet. I was really disappointed with Outer South for several reasons. First, Roosevelt Room is the only song I could listen to twice, and it was awesome. Secondly its CONOR OBERST and the Mystic Valley Band right? So why are all these horrible vocalist writing songs. I feel really sad about it because I have to reevaluate one of my favorite musicians. Lets go back to Brighteyes Conor, and congrats on finally making Desparcidos look good.

The Desaparecidos have always looked good. He played Roosevelt Room the last time I saw him (about 2 years ago as Bright Eyes).

This album gets better each time I listen to it. I was disappointed by it initially, but it (along with the self-titled) was perfect for driving through the southwest last month. Also, White Shoes has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it.

Review sucks, by the way.
