I despised this band for pretty much my whole life thanks to their late '90s and early '00s singles but I kind of hate that I'm really digging this album because that means I was wrong about the band this whole time.

unforgettable fire and boy are pretty even with this for me (and unforgettable fire probably reaches their highest highs) but this is their most consistent

hell yeah man i love this album. give boy and the unforgettable fire a chance if you want to dive further. old u2 was super formative for me and still holds up really well imo

I gotta say, 2 songs in I don't find The Unforgettable Fire's production or mix half as much, and Bono sounds like more like he did on the later albums, so that's a bit of a letdown so far. Think I'm gonna skip that one, not working for me, gonna try Boy out next
I'm not a fan of any of their greatest hits in any fashion, I think I like War so much is because it sounds nothing like the classic U2

fair lol it is def more aligned w joshua tree onward era u2 than this. i dig that sound so i really love the ambient soaked bridge over to it plus i think its probably my fav album of bonos vocally, but i see how it wouldnt win ya over
