Sure he claims that he doesn’t want to make another record like that twice and that’s why nothing he wrote after this recalls the style but I think he was just trying to deal with the pressure of besting what many consider to be the greatest rap album of all time. I don’t blame him though; a sequel to “Illmatic” would be boring as hell – it was so conclusive, like it’s just one part of the lesson plan.
This so depressing but probably true. I may bump this up to a 5.
