AFI album lead singles ranked sts and on
Girl's Not Grey > Medicate > Twisted Tongues > Miss Murder > I Hope You Suffer > Snow Cats
for the last 2 LPs I gave it to the singles they pushed harder (what even is a white offerings). huge dip in quality between TT and MM. last 3 are good live doe

GNG > Twisted Tongues > Medicate > Snow Cats > Miss Murder > I Hope You Suffer
Would be my ranking. Snow Cats hasn't held up super well but it's still much better than the bottom two.

Miss Murder's bridge makes it for me when the nostalgia isn't kicking in
IHYS is good minus the chorus and bridge and wow i just wish it had different lyrics
I wish someone just told Davey to sing Snow Cats better because the actual song is written fine at worst

Yeah, I can get behind all those comments.

If those singles were an ep I would not like it very much. Didn’t realize how weak the singles generally are compared to the actual albums. Very interesting. That would also be the most disappointing setlist of all time.

Days of the Phoenix might be their best lead single?

idk why i chose not to count that, my brain was definitely thinking they didn't start doing big singles until STS (actively excluding He Who Laughs Last and Third Season although the later of which is a great song)
Days of the Phoenix is probs the objective definitive best if not Girl's Not Grey. it's about tied with Medicate for me

Days of the Phoenix might be their best lead single [2]
Then Girls Not Grey, the Twisted Tongues, don't care about the rest.

I don't particularly care for many of the tracks here but Jade absolutely brought it on this record.

Jade is typically the most interesting part of AFI.

The b-sides on this absolutely crush carcinogens

The opening of Darling, I want to Destroy You gives me strong Smashing Pumpkins vibes. Sounds like it belongs on Mellon Collie

You think so? I always felt Hunter was. He's a very underappreciated bass player.

Yeah he completely makes songs like Miss Murder that would otherwise be just decent

Used to hate this album, now I'm OK with it. Certainly more on the pop side, but the first two tracks go really well. Still quite a lot of variety like in DU, just a bit weaker album overall.

Averages from DU onwards are waaaaay too loooow
