"These guys are definitely not the worst band out there." True. But who is?

"I used to enjoy their previous albums but this was boring as hell" Harsh, but I can see where you are coming from. It appears as if 2.5 is going to be the consensus for this album.

"phobia was good... I'll probably buy this." This is a step down, but you won't hate it.

My ex-gf, one of my best friends and part time free analyst, friggin' love this band. She almost gizzed herself when I told they were releasing a new record. She usually has an amazing good taste on music, but I guess that's her guilty pleasure.

With that said, I couldn't care less about this band. Great review, DaveyBoy.

While it's radio rock BB is most definitely a band that can be liked without be called a guilty pleasure

Thanks redsparrow (aka Denny). I really think that to some extent, the attraction to Breaking Benjamin is that they are still to break big time in the mainstream. I know in the States, you guys have many rock radio stations, but am I correct in saying they aren't exactly plastered all over radio and music video shows? If they were to one day go huge, then they would be a guilty pleasure I guess.

Eh, i dont think they are nearly as bad as half of the other bands all over the radio, mainstream etc... To me they are a band, that does what they want, and not what their fans want, which makes them pretty respectable. I feel that a mainstream rock band, no matter how good their music really is, will receive flak, just because they are on the radio, and be considered a "guilty pleasure", when really they could just be called " a good band"

Fair call, although it does to some extent work both ways. Brand New are also a band that does what they want, but they are at the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to changing things up from album to album.

Yeah, sort of the point I have been trying to make. Except that it goes double if the band are super successful millionaires. I mean, someone like Nickelback sell out arenas down under. Breaking Benjamin wouldn't sell out a small club. Why? I think it's simple; the lack of one really huge hit single. That's all it takes sometimes.

Breaking Benjamin really aren't bad, in fact they are pretty good. Diary Of Jane and So Cold were both really good singles

Another good review. I've never liked this band. Based on the few songs I've heard they sounded like a second-rate Adema clone.

With ‘Phobia’ consolidating on 2004’s ‘We Are Not Alone’, one could have been forgiven for thinking that the band’s 4th album may have been looking to stretch their boundaries.
Is "consolidating" really the right word for this sentence?

i think it's safe to say if you live in the US and listen to the radio, you know who Breaking Benjamin are.

In a recent interview with the band, ben burley said this is the only album he didn't drink on when he wrote it.

"Breaking Benjamin really aren't bad, in fact they are pretty good. Diary Of Jane and So Cold were both really good singles" Well said Asiatic.

Thanks Trey. I don't know if you picked up the little sidenote as such in the review, but at least 4 songs on this album had input from the guitarist from RED. Reading an interview with the lead singer of BB, I get the feeling the 2 bands will collaborate even more in the future.

"Is "consolidating" really the right word for this sentence?" Yeah, I think so. Just looked up some synonyms for the word & stuff like "reinforce, cement & stabilize" are mentioned. That's basically what I was trying to get at.

"i think it's safe to say if you live in the US and listen to the radio, you know who Breaking Benjamin are." Fair enough. I thought so, but didn't know to what extent.

"In a recent interview with the band, ben burley said this is the only album he didn't drink on when he wrote it." Correct Gregory... Hence my adding that he was a recovering alcoholic in the review.

While I don't really enjoy this band's music all that much, my main issue is the vocalist. So, no amount of collaboration with bands I enjoy will fix that issue because he will always suck.

I dunno if 'Shadows' is any indication but I think Red and BB collaborating in the future would be a very good thing.

As long as it's the RED vocalist doing the singing.

Hehe. What is it that annoys you about him Trey? I can't see how anyone can find him awful. If anything, he is arguably generic. But like the band, he is pretty (for want of a better word) inoffensive.

He's whiny and kind of weak. He really reminds me of a more estrogen-filled version of the Adema vocalist.

I can see why his vocals could get annoying, it does seem like he gets a bit whiny at parts. I think its just cause Willie is trying to compare him to RED's vocalist.
