| Summary: This album is amazing even if its not technical |
3 of 18 thought this review was well written
Ok so I have heard a lot of talk about how Suicide Silence is bad, or just a bunch of noise. It seems to me that people just say they are talentless because their guitar work and originality is not a really strong factor in their music.
Now while Suicide Silence may not be as technical as Necrophagist or The Faceless, I think their ability to make catchy grooves is just as equal. I have both Suicide Silence albums and I listen to them on a regular basis, and love to "sing" along, because Mitch Lucker places the lyrics and vocal patterns to match the guitars and drums. So unlike Job for a Cowboy (who is my other favorite band for completely different reasons) who have oddly placed vocals and drums that do different fills and beats often within the same riff, Suicide Silence likes to keep their music, for the most part, very rhythmical, simple and catchy.
I also hear a lot of people say well there guitarists suck. Well that’s not necessarily true. Sure they are not doing epic solos or super technical riffs, but that’s probably due to the fact they approach their music form a different angle. They prefer speed over technicality which is awesome if you can pull it off right, and they do. And on top of that the few solos they do have fit the music perfectly. I like the solo in "Wake Up" because it fit that song so well even though it was not a mind blowing masterpiece.
Now as far as lead singers go Mitch Lucker is definitely a favorite of mine (next to Jonny Davy, and Phil Bozeman) because his range is so huge. His lows and highs reach limits that give veteran frontman (Like Randy Blythe, and George Fisher) a run for their money. Now I am not saying that his talent is better per say, but his range definitely is (and his lows are not inhales like a lot of people believe). Its one thing if a vocalist can only go super high, because that means they have only strived for half of their potential, but Mitch goes super low and high. And on top of that, in this album he added his hardcore yell which further proved his vocal abilities. For me talent is not just screaming well, its having a large range while screaming while matching your music well.
Now that that is out of the way lets talk about the album itself. Compared to "The Cleansing", "No Time to Bleed" definitely out did it. For one the production was much better. "The Cleansing" just sounded like it had less production value. Two, the riffs themselves keep the formula of playing fast while adding a bit more complexity. The vocals practically stay the same, except for the addition of hardcore yells. The only thing that stayed pretty much the exact same were the drums. He sticks to using a lot of fills and blast beats, like in the first one. They also added a few more breakdowns in this album which I guess contributes to the brutality of their live show, but anyway. All of the songs are good to me, even "...And then She Bled". The best songs on the album are definitely "Your Creations" and "Smoke". I especially like "Smoke" for its amazing vocal, guitar, and drumming speeds in the beginning. The reason I said that I even like "...And Then she Bled" (Which is a dark instrumental with the recording of a girls call to 911 because her friend was attacked and killed by her pet chimp. Yes this is a real 911 call) is because if you listen to the album in order all the way through, you find that this song adds a nice break to this fast paced, heavy album. Think of it like the calm during a storm. Plus the way the instrumental is arranged definitely adds to my idea of why I find Suicide Silence eerie.
So as a whole I find this album to be very rhythmic, catchy, eerie, and fast, even though the guitars and music are not very technical. Suicide Silence has mastered their formula of music.

To be completely honest, the review is not as absolutely HORRIBLE as you guys are making it out to be. He backs up his opinions at least somewhat reasonably.
That being said, the album is absolutely god-awful. Actually didn't mind The Cleansing all that much, though.
