Hmmm they're coming to NYC on the 28th and 29th, I might have to reconsider going if you say they're that good.

I thought this review was excellent. I'm checking this out immediately, I've been so bored with post rock. This sounds like exactly what I need.

might be picking this up, been wanting a good post-rock record this year.

I'm seeing them live in Boston the day after Thanksgiving :D
It's really interesting tracking DMST over the past 5-6 years since I've been listening to them religiously. Each album is so different from the next -- almost like a lesser-known Radiohead spawn. Anyways, Other Truths is just another step in a direction that I dig. I haven't listened to a Do Make album I haven't enjoyed.
And with the arguments concerning what typical post rock sounds like: please stop. The genre is virtually impossible to pin down. It started with bands such as Bark Psychosis, Talk Talk and Flying Saucer Attack -- bands that all sound completely different. Post Rock used to have a concrete definition ("using rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes, using guitars as facilitators of timbres" instead of using them for chords and so and so) but since '94, that definition has become forgotten and more and more bands that can easily be defined as "instrumental" have been dubbed as "post rock."
That's the great aspect of the genre though -- it's not held down by concrete definitions and bands like Do Make Say Think, Set Fire to Flames and A Silver Mt. Zion (with their vocals) can push the envelope.
I must've listened to Yndi Halda's Enjoy Eternal Bliss a thousand times but I cannot bring myself to listen to it once more due to their formulaic aesthetic. It's no wonder they have yet to come with new material since early 2007.
