I do think that in general this is fairly boring and unimaginative and that your score is pretty accurate, but I think what you didn't like about it may have been one of the redeeming factors for me. Strange and seemingly misplaced riffs like the one you referenced on "This Close" for me made for the most interesting parts of the album. They were jarring and dissonant and pulled me out of the lull the rest put me into with a kind of peculiar and unexpected sound that I feel like they were going for, trying to think outside the box; that one in particular was my favorite moment on the whole album.

I can see what you're saying, but to me it just didn't feel like it was intentional. Even if it was intentional, it just didn't work (IMO). Check out Finch's "Say Hello to the Sunshine" for dissonant riffs and melodies done right.

BloodyRose3000: Digging: Mandy Moore - Wild Hope

lol.

Sounds like she's trying to ripoff Avril Lavigne on this album, and I mean seriously. This chick as a serious vocal crush on Avril, worse than Trivium's vocalist on James Hettfield.

People have got to find some other Latin terms besides 'Momento Mori'

My main problem with this album was how over processed it was, most of the songs seem forced (This Close, listen to it and see if that chorus doesent just make you say wtf, it doesent fit what comes before) it seems like their producer just went off the success of All around me and decided every song should be a pop song, and screw the Im So Sick/Fully Alive route that got Flyleaf first known. Their EP was created before AAM and it still had that raw hard rock feeling, I dont think Lacey's voice fits where the band is going.
All of that said the only highlights to me were Arise, Chasm, Circle and The kind

Average album is average. Nothing bad, but entirely uninspiring as well. Wouldn't turn it off it played (and Lacey is well fit) but only because I probably wouldn't notice it was on.

Solid review though.

Damn I really enjoyed this album. Damn man I diffently wouldn't say "Beautiful Bride" is the worst song on the album. Songs like "Chasm" and "In the Dark" really made this album shine imo.

pff another band that crashes, after 3 years I was expecting much more, the 1st album was awesome. While the 1st was fresh, different, strong with many good song this is boring to death without any really good song, just some ok songs and lot of bad songs, the best for me is tiny heart that is just an old song remastered.

The problem of this album is that doesn't make any emotion to you, it's nice to hear 1 time.

Fairly average.. I'll admit that during the initial first listen I was sorta taken back and didn't like it but after couple of listens, some of the tracks grew on me. Particularly "Swept Away" and "Missing"

Wow there are some moments where her vocals are just God awful in this. A step down from the debut, but instrumentally I think they've improved.

An amazing CD. Blows away the debut in every way IMO. Her voice in "Arise" gives me chills.

Solid album. Lacey's vocals are one of the few things that take this band a step above most others in the genre. Arise is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard.
