When are we going to get a dissenting review? There have to be more people out there who think a 2 is a significantly lower rating than this album deserves.
I want to write one, but I don't think I've absorbed the album enough to make an adequate review yet.

I have to disagree big time with this review, I'm sorry, but this review just wreaks of stink. The guy doesn't even touch on the positives, he was obviously expecting Mabool part 2, I on the other hand was just gearing up for hearing a new Orphaned Land album.

The album comes together brilliantly to me, I've yet to hear a track I didn't like, as I am listening to it right now. It's a shame that this guy has seemingly influenced some not to pick this great album up. Mabool part 2 this is not, but what it is, is frigging awesome.

If more people keep making accounts to rate one album and make one post, surely they'll convince everyone their flawless opinion dominates.

I'll listen to this tonight and see how it is. Could be awesome, could be shit.

This album is basically a slightly worse Mabool.

I thought "No way could they fall so short from Mabool."

They did.

Sorry MindTrain, I know I just joined, but I'm not going anywhere.

And Emim, how did they fall short of Mabool? I sure as heck wasn't expecting Mabool, Part 2. I was only expecting a new Orphaned Land album, and I actually loved what I heard. So needless to say, I'm very happy with my purchase. Obviously, you were expecting Mabool, part 2.

I still can barely get through this. There's no substance.

Hmmm, maybe cause this sucks??? It didn't need to be "Mabool Part 2", it needed to be good.

This:

I have absolutely nothing good to say about tracks 3 (Bereft in the Abyss) to 8 (His Leaf Shall Not Wither)...it's a full half hour of boredom. Brutal.

he didn't touch on the positives because there was obviously a dearth of them (2/5). a negative review is going to focus on negatives because there are more of them than positives.

and cocaine's reviews are always awesome so i dunno what you're on. if it makes music like this tolerable though it's powerful stuff.

I am already a big fan of Mabool. Just wondering if this is anything like it.

I'm 5 tracks in. So far this sounds like one of Dream Theater's recent albums where the music doesn't catch you, it just wanders around almost as if it's being improvised. The first song gets you pumped, then you get a lot of anti-climatic, almost droning filler with only a few good moments in between.

I just shook my head and shrugged at the end of track 5. What a stupid ending. I'm taking a break from this album already...

Scoot, yes, it's kinda like Mabool, but it also has more than enough for it to stand on it's own, trust me, it's a solid album, and takes the band in a slightly different direction from Mabool. Some standouts include "Sapari", "The Warrior", and the last track "In Thy Neverending Way" is an awesome conclusion piece. But to me, there's not a bad song on here, there's some breaks that give you some breathing room in the form of softer songs, but that's fine by me.

As for you qwe, you strike me as someone who only listened to part of the album, and decided to call it a day, that's fine, sometimes I do that too when an album is really bad. As for you sticking up for the reviewer, pot, kettle, black. Not my fault that this reviewer obviously expected Mabool, Part 2, as he kept comparing this album to it's predecessor rather than allowing it to stand on it's own, hence why I say this review just wreaks of stink.

Not my fault that I found this album to be strikingly good, plenty of good tracks to be had, especially towards the end. And of course, attacking my opinion of music and making an assumption that I am on something makes you look real mature for sure. Nice try though.

TL;DR

It's a solid album that deserves a 3 at MOST after my first listen, but then again I don't ever want to listen to it again because most of it is average and boring.

MindTrain, that's fine dude, different strokes for different folks, I myself have copied it to my cell phone that happens to be an MP3 player as well, it took me a couple tries since my DVD player messes up on the last track. Anyway, I have no regrets of purchasing this album at all, I find it to be just as good as Mabool, if not even better in some places. The last track "In Thy Neverending Way" is powerful.

I suggest listening to it again in the near future MindTrain, after you've taken a break for a bit like you said you're going to. Hopefully your opinion will change a bit. But if not, ah well, we can agree to disagree then.
