I get what you're saying, I guess I'm partial to longer reviews. Nag is usually one of the best at getting straight to the point. In this case, the history provides an exposition about the shit Frusicante went thorugh, and his redemption, which is a unifying theme of the album and shines through on his playing.

The history was a bit much, could've been shortened. Aside from that, top review

Great review, Nag. I actually dig how you review albums within the historical context of the band

Have you ever thought about applying for staff??

That pretty much sums it up. Like I mentioned myself, it might have been shorter, but I felt it was necessary to fully understand the album.

Yes, well for contributor anyways. I applied late last year but they didn't grant me the position. Probably because I don't review enough new releases.

I would bet its because you are not indie enough Nag. Or hardcore metal enough? Like me, I think your tastes are mostly straight forward.

That's got nothing to do with it, or sputnik will truly have become too elite. And what do you mean by straightforward?

hard Rock, Rock, mainstream leanings, lack of overall indie elitism?

Guys with a similar taste used to be crawling over this site a few years ago, looking at the reviews, but now they've been replaced by metalheads and indie hipsters, as they're called.

I tend to respect the more mainstream and the more obscure equally, although I hold true to claim too many users fail to respect the heart of rock n' roll. My ratings may tell otherwise, but I've only come to respect the indie side of music more recently than I joined.

Yeah, I'll admit I found some great stuff on this site I otherwise would have never found, but I'll always be a hard rock/classic rock guy at the end of the day.

That's where my roots lay too, but the past half year or so, I have to come to an important realization: most types of music can be enjoyed, as long as there is passion in it.

^That pretty much sums up how I feel after being on this site for over a year

It's not just the site though. It's things in my life that changed, but I won't go further into that. Technically, I could also review the indie hipster stuff, but why do that if there's already hundreds of other users out there doing it already? Again, my reviewing might give a altered image of my actual taste.

Parallel Universe is probably the only song I don't like on this, odd that you think it's a Chili classic.

Oh, and this album owns.

I can't listen to this album anymore, it's a relic of my childhood. Waves of sound envelop me. A thousand Anthony Kiedis's waving socks in my face and spouting gibberish while Frusciante wreaks havoc on his chipped guitar. All in all an unsatisfactory conglomerate of funk and rap distilled into lukewarm piss

People need to stop whining about the history. With a discography, it's needed and in this case it was even more necessary because of what Frusciante went through. There are plenty of paragraphs that talk about the music.

very poetic

Great review, I loved the history part. Some reviewers make it a chore to read long, boring passages, but I loved reading yours.
