Young Seattle gothic punks Aiden better their debut, but still have a way to go to match their influences (AFI, MCR, etc...) if 2nd LP 'Nightmare Anatomy' is anything to go by. There is pleasingly more diversity here & the production better balances rawness & melody. The 3 singles kick off the album in rather catchy fashion, but following that it is a rather up & down affair. With divisive lyrics aimed at disaffected teens, the quintet's main sticking point is still Wil Francis' clean vocals, which have admittedly improved this time around. Recommended Tracks: Die Romantic, Goodbye We're Falling Fast & The Last Sunrise.

I can't get past the lyrics. Do they REALLY have to say "nightmare" so much? None of the lyrics strike me as particularly good or thought-provoking. It wouldn't be a problem if they're not meant to be that way, but it sounds like it's trying to be profound, but falls flat. I also can't get past the fact that their songs can start out sounding strong within the first couple seconds, then wiL opens his mouth and the whole thing goes downhill.

These guys totally jacked the intro to The Last Sunrise from Thrice's Deadbolt.

I feel like I shouldn't enjoy this as much as I do. It just scratches an itch for all the Victory Records bands I listened to in middle school.
