I agree that this album catches more shit than it deserves. Good review.

It's still boring though :/. A couple of good tracks and a bunch of snoozers.

Not really boring. Just not as instant. It's the first Dark Tranquillity album that requires a "settling in" period since Skydancer.

I tried to give it that "settling" chance. It didn't take it; the fucker put me to sleep instead

Ha ha. I listened to it at work with headphones a few times and that did the trick.

Funny you say that because the time I actually fell asleep to this (unintentionally) I was listening through headphones too.

Well then. I appreciate this album, at least ;)

@ Willie
Good for you then. The only song I think I still spin occasionally from this is "Shadow In Our Blood" because I liked that synth line haha. There were a couple of others I liked too (Her Silent Language and Iridium I think), but not enough to spin them much, if that makes sense.

I still listen to Projector and Skydancer more than any of their other albums, so I actually haven't come back to this since the time it grew on me.

Well in all honesty I've only got this, Fiction and The Gallery from these guys so I basically have their full back-catalogue to check out.

Save The Mind's I for last -- it's crap.

Thanks for the heads-up haha. I don't even know if I'll go chronologically or just work my way backwards from Fiction.
|

just work backwards. Character, Damage Done, Haven and Projector are all great

No way Willie, it has Hedon and Insanity's Crescendo which are arguably two of the best songs of DT's career.

Nah, I like nearly all the rest of the songs (hello DT fanboyism) but anyway I like how they went for a more up-tempo approach that didn't concentrate so much on winding melodies and instead tried something a little more straight-up and heavy. I can see it not being your cup of tea but I thought it was an interesting move.

I thought it was their attempt at Slaughter of the Soul DT-style.
