Not praising an album = not paying enough attention?

I half agree with Keelan and half with you (fitting, since my rating falls right between). What you call the '80s vibe could certainly be off-putting to some, and this certainly is a relaxing album to play in the background. At the same time, though, it's a record that really rewards close listening. As Keelan emphasizes in his review, the lyrics of these songs are key to really appreciating them, the relationship between the lyrics and the music around them in particular.

Kenny G with Duran Duran on a cruise ship?

Man, are you sure you haven't been listening to The Weather Channel's local forecast and not this?

no, not realizing that this isn't all just smooth jazz and 80's vibe and thinking all the saxophone solos are the same is why you're not paying enough attention.

I never said it was all smooth jazz and 80's vibe, it's just the impression the production gave me. And I already mentioned I spoke a bit too hyperbolic about the saxophones. They're not all the same, but they're all in the same style. Most of these songs sound similar, even if it is sort of a unique sound, it doesn't keep me engaged throughout the whole thing. You're speaking to a Zappa fanatic though, so I guess it goes without saying that it takes me a bit longer to get into music that isn't changing up styles on every song. I've only heard this twice, so there's definitely room for it to grow. It's really not that deep, so I doubt I'll hear anything I didn't on the first two listens, but maybe it'll strike a certain chord with me later on.

that's what I meant by you're not paying attention enough. I mean, after a bunch of listens and a longer digestion period and you still have the same feelings you do now, then great. I mean, I'm not gonna hold it against a guy who likes the brownest of the brown liqours

Only line that troubles me is the one in "Blue Eyes" about sending a message in a bottle to the press.

Maybe I'm too nitpicky, but it's the one line I can't interpret clearly.
