Not sure if I like this yet, gave it 1 thorough listen and I'm uncertain.

There are some songs I don't care for but her voice is good throughout.

The eponymous debut LP from singer & musician Anna Calvi is an intriguing release that showcases a unique talent. Reminding of PJ Harvey, Calvi ambitiously covers genres as varied as country to rock & from pop to blues. It sounds like the soundtrack to a David Lynch film, with Calvi's sensual, often over-dramatic, voice demanding attention, yet not always connecting. Most impressive is the guitar-work here amongst a plethora of instruments. Heavily dependent on its sultry mood, this is a captivating & promising debut which required more hooks to break up its repetition & inconsistency. Recommended Tracks: Blackout, Love Won't Be Leaving & Desire.
