i should note that that's the most common kind of review PERIOD, and it's probably even more prevalent among film critics.

i still don't get what the dig on katy perry is, tho... is it even a dig?

professional film criticism + user-submitted sputnik reviews serve entirely different purposes tho... altho i pretty much get exactly what you're saying + agree with it

Satellite is smart. He nailed it.
|

it's definitely a different approach cad playgroundfading, but regardless of the medium i think the goal should be to tackle the idea of the album/film in a semi-unique way (e.g. chan's and conrad's reviews of this album) instead of acting as a consumer guide.
idk i'm drunk

lol @ strikethrough
yeah i agree that's way better to read, especially if youre really into music and movies and such.
thing is, most people read movie reviews to determine whether or not it's worth 17 bucks to see pirates of the carribbean 7: Blackbeard's black balls
|
| |
hahaha
i would totally pay $17 to see that film without reading a review
|
| |
oh and you're 100% right. professional music reviewers definitely have a lot more freedom there.
|
| |
it may not be worth the 17 bucks cuz for 22.50 you could see those black balls in 3D imax

@PlaygroundFading: I assume that he meant that Katy Perry's insistence that she enjoys kissing other girls, music videos that border on erotic and the copious amounts of FHM style photoshoots that she's done (I can't comment on most of her actual music but I assume it follows the same kind of ideas) shows that she's blatantly pandering to the hetrosexual male in order to sell more music.
Also: did anyone catch a glimpse of Lady Gaga's pregnant/ bondage fetish outfit? I was drinking some tea whilst reading the paper (as I am obliged by Her Magesty's law to do at least twice a day) and nearly spat it all out after I saw a picture of it. I've been having nightmares ever since.

she's blatantly pandering to the hetrosexual male in order to sell more music.
this simply doesn't make sense to me, though, because she definitely has more female listeners, right?

Love this review, though I've never been much of a Gaga fan so I'll always enjoy a good ripping.
Bitch is just too self-important, without the nuance or artistic substance to back up any of her hyperbole. The gay community has far better pop singers to idolize anyway, with Robyn coming off a great year and Roisin Murphy being EXTREMELY more consistent.

tl;dr
Great review as usual Conrad, too bad that you got all those ghost negs. Pos.
|
| |
normally i'd agree but I think in certain cases (this being one of them) it's good to really rip into an album
It's not so much that I have an issue with his approach to this album, or how acidic his commentary on it is. It's more that there are moments here and there where I think you kinda go overboard, the "fucking logic up the ass" line for example. It just sticks out like a sore thumb against the otherwise excellent prose, and just kinda deflates the argument a bit

Great review man. I'll probably still listen to this though. pos'd

This review is so, so, so fucking good that I'd actually like to thank you for writing it. Immense stuff.
|
| |
Agreed. I don't actually know that much about Gaga and have no idea about her music, but I found this review terrific. I only read it because I saw that one star on the main page and I wanted to see if it's just another pointless, unfocused rant written to start a retard war in comments. If only all negative reviews on Sputnik were like that...
Great job, simply.
