Absolutely. Quite frankly a GOOD musician can craft a good song with like three chords and some good ideas. Technical skill is great, but it's all just flourish. If the basic backbone of good songwriting isn't there, then it's just passionless noodling.

They could have actually been THE deathcore band. Instead...they're a way below average progressive death metal band. Sad really...good musicians that can't write music worth a damn.

Hopefully the last track is a sign of hope. My one complaint with this band is the lack of progression with emotion...or the total lack of emotion. It's raw, technical, and awesome, but it's lacking the emotional connectability that makes me get hooked on bands. Seriously though, once the solo kicks in on that song I'm sold.

I've never heard such confused riffs. Also, what's with so many people trying to defend them by saying, "they're going in the right direction" and stuff like that. Why would one bother to even listen to a band that is still lost and trying to get on the right track?

This isn't even proper Death Metal. It's got Hardcore and Crust-Punk-ish riffs with metal solos. The vocalist is really good, he's got a nice crisp growl, but doesn't know when to do inhales and can't even do them well. Still, what good is that when the band cant structure one song well?!

Misery Reformatory is such a kickass song, I loved the hell out of this EP.
