Good review, man. I saw the Wot We Do video and could NOT sit through Get Started or All Around the World, even though I tried...really hard. To me, I feel like Queensryche is trying to find another great radio hit (similar to staying "current" like you said), but the only people who actually listen to them are mostly pre-HITNF fans, who generally dislike new QR (generally dislike may be an understatement in this case).

It's rather pathetic, when you think about it. Queensryche (probably Tate himself) has resorted to censoring the comments on the Wot We Do youtube video like a f*cking communist dictator. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Sorry if I'm ranting.

@BladeRunner: Welcome! If you're a fan of Queensryche and new to this site, then let me be the first to recommend that you check out Fates Warning, Porcupine Tree, and Riverside (to start with).

good review dude, but what's the point in wasting time on this useless band that's ceased to be relevant for over 2 decades??
When you're a fanboy you always give them the benefit of the doubt, and then just bitch after it doesn't work out.

I think that's it exactly. Why would they spend every interview pushing the fact that this album is 'current' and 'in the now' unless they were trying to appeal to a new audience.

In other news, the Queensryche guitarist has had to print a clarification about previous interviews he has done. He is saying that he is 100% behind this album and that other ideas and directions weren't scrapped to make room for this. To me, if he was 100% behind this album he wouldn't be making comments that need to be 'clarified' in other interviews. I think he's the only one left that wants to rock. He should become Dream Theater's rhythm guitarist.

So sad to think that this band has dropped so far down the quality ladder.

Eddie Trunk is a cunt.
When I was in 7th grade and I had XM Radio, myself and one of my friends called Boneyard when he had Bret Michaels on and I called them cunts. We felt so awesome even though it wasn't aired.

Was queensryche ever really good at taking risks?

Yeah. They were actually. They went from a Priest/Power metal sound on their EP to a gothy, slow prog metal sound on The Warning. From there they pushed forward the electronics and keyboards incorporating alot of stuff associated with industrial and darkwave to backup a slicker sound (Rage for Order). After that, they dropped it all for a straight-up prog metal concept album (Mindcrime)... then they dropped all of that for a slick prog rock/radio friendly album... despite that album's success they dropped that direction for expansive/moody compositions on Promised Land.... those were all good risks that paid off.

You know. I just like Mindcrime. The Rest? I don't give a shit.

And that's that. Sod off, Queensryche. Band hasn't been relevant for 20 years.

I am really disappointed with this. I was so excited when I heard that it was going to be like Rage For Order. Damn. Not even close.

Yeah, the name dropping of Rage for Order was really fucked up. Did he even listen to the same album?

I bet O:M is the only one you've heard. It's quite laughable that people who have virtually only heard their most popular and highly regarded album write off the rest of their albums and assume that anything before and after Mindcrime isn't worthwhile, while also pretending to know shit.

But yeah this seems like a stinker.

It's worse that people seem to think that because they don't like certain eras/albums from a band that they should hang it up, while they blindly ignore the thousands of fans these bands still have.

Just did a total re-write. Shortened the review and definitely tightened its focus. Dropped/fixed a lot of the wordier sentences.
