Solid album but a bit disappointing. Endgame was awesome.

I gave it a 3.5 it just didn't have very much replay value. There were also some pretty weak tracks towards the middle of the album.
Headcrusher does bring the thrash though, no doubt...

I am simply befuddled every time I read someone write United Abominations, Endgame, and Thirteen are anything near good albums. I feel nothing but disappointment when I hear them.
UA was good, but yeah, this and Endgame have been disappointing.

Simply put, this is not my favorite Megadeth album by any stretch. That being said, it is a solid 3/5 effort. I'll enjoy it for what it is, not what it should have been. So far with recent releases of the big four we have Anthrax with the best new album, Megadeth in second, Slayer in third, and of course Metallica's Lulu that makes one's ears bleed.

^Mostly Lou Reed's songwriting since he wrote all the lyrics and a lot of the songs. Metallica just performed them. But the performance is still pretty bad.
But I'd listen to this over the new Anthrax any day

Why do they always have to have a song about going fast?

The problem for me is, it feels slapped together. Kind of like Sauder furiture lol. Has some decent stuff to jam out to, but other than that was just ehh. Has grown on me through the third listen.

"Whose Life (Is It Anyways?)" should appeal to the teenage ~nonconformist~ with lines like "You think you know what's best for me / You hate everything you've seen in me / Have you looked in a mirror?", but it's pretty cringeworthy coming from a fifty year old man.
LOL THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING WHEN I HEARD THAT!!!! i really enjoyed the album, and musically it's pretty good but some of the lyrics were sooooo cheesy, especially that one XD
anyway, great review, mike o/

Great Album, overall it feels less good than it actually is when you weigh up the cool tracks here, i think that could count against it. might lead it to be a very underrated album.

Good review. After listening to this for a while (or maybe I should say not really listening to this) I've dropped my initial opinion down. This is really disappointing after their last effort.

Sweet solo on Sudden Death. This is an alright album. I've never cared for his vocals though.

Dave's vocals are the least of the band's problems at this point.
