No need for the condescension - I had entered my comment at the same time that you made your edit
addressing me. Fair enough.

"Of course the song is going to continue the same principle theme, if it didn't it would simply have no structure"

I'm not sure how else I can illustrate this...I'm truly in disbelief here. I prefer the entire theme and mood of a song to be shifting (completely!), not just for a single theme to be evolved. Am I saying that because this album does not fit this criteria it is any less valuable? No. I am saying that this gives way to boredom for me in listening to it. This, usually being an attribute of the genre at hand, is why I don't typically listen to much Electronica.

There's no need to get worked up here. I get what you're saying, I just disagree with the analysis

I agree with Anthracks here: the songs begin with a certain template that is only slightly deviated from (there are chord/tempo changes and subtle quirks, but that's all they are...subtle). It is very constant tone-wise which is why I can see why it might not appeal to people who like more actively dynamic music. For me, I love deep house, so I appreciate the repetitive nature of the album.

Well, the same thing can be said for most genres outside of electronica as well, but I don't at all
understand your perspective of it. I mean, to each their own, but let's discuss this:

I prefer the entire theme and mood of a song to be shifting (completely!)

That seems a little... contradictory. In the context of music you must be implying that the theme is a
subject from which variations are developed, not something that's forever changing "completely!"

Am I the only person here who thinks this isn't repetitive in nature? I think it seamlessly builds and evolves as it goes, which some people mistake for repetition.

Listen to the closer and tell me it isn't repetitive. And that's my favorite song on the album so don't think this is a criticism.

I don't see why you're acting like I'm critiquing the album for this. I know the same can be said for other genres...and it's the same reason I don't typically listen to those genres either. Do I say they are bad or critique them for it either? Nope. Music for me is perceptual discovery, and if there's nothing new to discover for me I get bored and have no further need to listen. Simple.

Like I said, I enjoy this album, but there is nothing left for me to discover in it so I don't see myself listening to it much in the future.

Turns out Anthony Fantano is also a fan, though his use of microhouse was amusing. If ever there was a blog whore....
