Aw man, I bet that's it. I guess all I can do is share a few cool facts.

The intro was inspired by "I Happen to Like New York" by Bobby Short.

Jeff Bhasker and to some degree Jack and Andrew didn't "get" the title track when it was coming

together. Jeff wanted to scrap it. They said it was like a puzzle that only makes sense with all the

pieces. It's now Jeff's favorite on the ablum.

They intentionally refrained from adding complexity to "Why Am I the One" to prove that they can

write a good song without endless layers and instruments.

The bridge of "All Alone" was originally the chorus, and vice versa.

"All Alright" wasn't going to be on the album until another song failed because an unnamed indie

band wouldn't let them use a sample.

"Stars" has been in the works since Aim and Ignite, and the band believes that it's the deepest part

of the album and needs to be delved into to be appreciated. Every second of it counts.

"Says the playlist is empty; I get a weird feeling it's only available in the US, which is both stupid and something I didn't know Spotify did."

Yeah, it's really annoying. But there's also stuff not available in the states. I don't get why they cant just let everyone listen to everything.

Definitely ordering the CD now. Been in need of some good indie-pop for awhile.

"We Are Young" was great, so the full album should be even better considering it was a single.

That's awesome Jake!
Thanks for sharing. I had an inkling hunch that the sound on 'Why Am I The One' was deliberately stripped down.

If the person who neg'd reads this, would you care to offer constructive criticism?

Stirring the pot of this thread because it's easier than doing homework.

I wonder if the first line of 'Some Nights' is a reference to 'Be Calm'

Be Calm: "But with every single buck I've made
I'm saddled with bad luck"

Some Nights: "Some Nights I stay up cashing in my bad luck."

Probably the last person to notice this now. =P

:o I never did! It so is! I love Nate's self-references. I'm pretty sure "Some Nights" also references "On Your Porch."

and I've always loved how "Dog Problems" has a line about "The First Single"

Aim and Ignite in "Stars"... so good.

I'm going to spend half the day with the lyrics to each song on Nate's, looking for references now. =P
In fact, think I'm going to listen to everything from Interventions up to Aim and Ignite today. =)
Not Some Nights though because... I really can't listen to it any more.

It's a 3.4 =P

It's just because I've been listening to Dog Problems lots lately. =P I'll bump it up by the end of the day.

I feel like my rating for this album has big potential to change, depending on the style of their NEXT album. If they go for something different, I'll continue loving this as a classic. I can appreciate it as an fascinating one-time venture. If this just turns out to be what they do now, THEN I'll experience the disappointment many seemed to face at the release of this album.
