Easily the suprise of 2012 for me. A very technically proficient album and with elements from bands I enjoy, but I think it's a little too APC, Opeth (Deliverance/Heritage) for me. I hope they add a few more heavier tracks on their next release, but this album hints at greatness. The vocals are uncannily Mikael Akterfedlt in timbre.

I just can't appreciate this as much as I feel I should. Way too derivative.

Yeah it's good, but I feel like I'm listening to a Tool ripoff band when I listen to this

This is so much like Tool it's ridiculous. I'm no Tool nut-swinger, but I do realize that they were pioneers in progressive music, so their influences are going to have a long reach. But Soen really needs to add
some originality to the mix.

I have no problem with how much this album rips off Tool, to be honest I'm kinda grateful, given that this'll hold me over until Tool finally release their new album in 2014

99% chance that the album cover was lifted from the Lateralus album booklet

The whole fetus in the brain thing is a direct lift from the Vicarious music video. And yeah all the other visuals are basically taken from Lateralus

If I were a major Tool fan I would be kinda pissed about this.
That said, I'd only call myself a part-time listener at best, and Soen piss me off.
It's probably because I expected a hell of a lot more from DiGiorgio and Lopez.
