"am i the only one reminded of green day by "the obituaries""

sportsboy, there were actually a few times that I thought of Green Day, but it wasn't 'The Obituaries' imo. I think it's mostly to do with the 2nd vocalist.

Adam, I was actually surprised you didn't put dibs on this ahead of me.

I really don't get the hype around this band, they're good and I really like them, but not as much as some people seem to (cough cough punknews).

Apart from the 2 singles, only Nice Things is really standing out to me so far, guess I'll have to dig into the lyrics a bit.

Mitch, I sort of know what you mean (our similar ratings do tell a story), but sometimes you have to look at potential... & I do believe these guys could make a genuine classic (along the lines of 'The '59 Sound') one day.

And yeah, the lyrics are definitely a large part of the process here.

This is way too good. These guys and the Wonder Years pretty much dominate the pop punk genre.

Agree on the vocals for 'Gates'.

And let's not get into a genre debate.

Can you recall why you thought you hated it? It's a strange song to hate.

I can see why someone may dislike 'The Obituaries' (even if I find it the best), but not so much 'Gates'.
