Some second half songs are totally filler but apart from many great numbers there's a real gem here, s/t Amaryllis track. Most beautiful thing they've recorded, warms my heart every time. The closer is pretty damn emotional as well. Overall my fav album of Shinedown.

Bully is awful but this album is their second best close behind sound of madness, peak shinedown here. Us and them should never have higher rating than this

Us and Them is better, but this gets a tad too much hate IMO. Some of the non-singles here are great.

Agreed Sowing on the non-singles. I love Through the Ghost so much. But this and SoM are tied at 2 for me with LaW at 1. Us and Them I didn’t love the non-singles so much

For me it's probably Leave a Whisper > Sound of Madness > Us and Them > Amaryllis > Attention Attention > Threat to Survival.
This album has a lot of personal meaning to me which is strange considering (1) it's a mediocre album by Shinedown's standards and (2) I reviewed it at a 2.5, but for whatever reason I associate this with one of the darkest moments/years of my life and the title track was weirdly crucial is pulling me through. Through the Ghost was, too. It's an album I openly acknowledge is not their best effort, but I have a strong emotional connection to it.

Us and them is boring, this is much heavier and faster. Shinedown albums are always better when the faster songs outnumber the ballads, that's why sound of madness is so great. Brent Smith's voice brings a lot of energy to their music

Honestly don't understand the negative reception for this album, it's literally just Sound Of Madness with heavier loud moments and better softer songs...

Wait, i've just realised Sowing reviewed this as a 2.5 and now it's a 4. This really is a grower
