It sounds like The Gaslight Anthem alright, but I liked the production on The '59 Sound so much better than this. This is on par with American Slang in terms of song quality, but it isn't their best. National Anthem is a pretty weak rendition of their other acoustic-folky songs. Red at Night is much better

The '59 Sound will always be their best song though.

Its one of their best songs. Handwritten is a really strong track too, one of the best here

don't get me wrong i love gaslight anthem but i suppose i need to accept they'll never release anything like 59 sound or sink and swim again

well you could always idk go listen to it it'd take you like 5 minutes to sample songs BUT MAKE SURE YOU DON'T TRY TOO HARD TO EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST IN ANYTHING

On the deluxe edition of this album, there is a cover of Sliver by Nirvana. Pretty great surprise hearing this cover!

I think Puzzles put it best:

"I was really digging this album but then I put it on and didn't dig it so much so I put on some Refused instead m/ m/"

After suffering my way through two and a half tracks into this album, I decided to follow the example and chose to rock out to "Rather Be Dead" instead.
