I'm in the minority but I think TGCD is one of their worst albums.

It's just very memorable for me, as is Viva Emptiness.

The Great Cold Distance is my favorite of theirs in this style. Second favorite overall behind Brave Murder Day.

Hmm this album seems to be getting quite a lot of hype, but I won't believe it until I've actually heard the album. Then again every other katatonia album hasn't disappointed me either...

If you like their previous albums there's no reason why you wouldn't enjoy this.

Yeah I can pretty much understand that. I've been a big fan of the band for at least four years now...

Completely different than anything they've done in the past 15 years, but yeah, it rules hard.

@GiaNXGX

dunno what you talking bout, NITND is incredibly varied while half of this album sounds like the same song.

NITND is the only Katatonia album that I have thoroughly enjoyed, not huge on Viva or TGCD, which album would you guys say this leans towards most?

BMD is a personal favourite of mine. The moment I first heard 'Brave' I was basically mezmerized. But every one of the band's albums have their own significance.

NITND is incredibly varied while half of this album sounds like the same song.

If you think so then so, but this album is way more varied.

1st: The orchestral arrangements are very varied and diverse ranging from symphonic pieces to electronic pulses

2nd: Has the right amount of ballads &/or heavy tracks

3rd: Takes elements from all their past works and blends them creating a very balanced work.

@GiaNXGX

everything you said about this album can be applied to NITND. NITND is more varied than this album. Matter in fact, this album is just a more musically stripped down version of with more emphasis on the vocals.

I can't wait to listen to this. I love all of their albums, and I don't know how people didn't love Night is the New Day, I really thought that album was spectacular, but from what I heard and read, I am ready to listen to this.

For anyone who hasn't given their bonus track 'The Act of Darkening' a listen yet should do so. It sounds like a happy Katatonia for a change.
