All the Merrywether hipsters hate this album. This is easily on the same position as the albums before Merrywether.

Really? 'Expectations seem to be set the highest after an artist reaches the peak of their career'?

And you made too many references to specific songs. Try talking about the album as one whole a bit more.

Haven't heard this yet. But if it has a lot of electronics in it then I might say screw it

i mean, yeah, MPP is an awesome album. it's easily their 4th best record. but this just offers so much more and easily wins in terms of consistency. MPP had a handful of tracks that i never felt worked outside of full album listens, which isn't necessarily a BAD thing, but every track on here works perfectly in and out of the release as a whole.

plus, this sounded exactly how i imagined it beforehand. i wasn't surprised that every track was surrounded by absurd noises and that it had a much less friendly atmosphere than their previous work, that's how i pictured it based on the live bootlegs and the way they described the album's production in interviews.

Songs are stunningly complex with different elements, yes, but the music isn’t sprawling and spaced out as wide as Merriweather was for listeners to be able to identify and appreciate all of the music’s varying attributes.

i can :]

Majority of the reviews I have read for this album, including this one, have a strong focus on Merriweather and never really mention any of An. Co.'s previous works. Most people will listen to this and think "it's not MPP" and automatically dismiss it as a bad album.

I thoroughly enjoy the album and that's all I really care about.

Well I might end up reviewing this if nobody wants to write a positive piece about it
