I think you'd probably think of them along the same lines as TWDY, give their live EP a go, it's probably their best

I saw Silver Mt. Zion live once. Never again. During that time I didn't know they released songs with vocals and man, their vocalist cannot sing. It hurt to listen to.

Hang on. Gone in Bloom and Bough is absolutely stunning.

Cheers JS!

Awesome, they can be a bit formulaic, but damn do they do it well!

miller and the appleseed cast. next week im seeing sigur ros and at the end of the month mogwai.

so mono are bringing out two new albums at the end of october, and they have repeatedly stressed there will be very limited use of orchestra/strings (none at all on one of the two albums). one album will be light and bright, the other dark and heavy. they will be returning to their roots. check their facebook page for more info.

I pretty much love all of their albums before For My Parents, very keen to listen to the new twin albums

The Facebook announcement implied less strings in general but someone said one of the albums is supposed to have more strings than ever. Not sure what to believe at this point

also that wasnt sarcastic. its a complete 180 on everything that was for my parents. sounds like their first two albums if anything.

honestly i'm not convinced, i liked you are there for the constant interplay between the two moods, i didn't want an album of just one or just the other, i just wanted the interplay between brooding, dark and uplifting back and it doesn't look like i'm going to get it

you dont like the new track then noctus? you might not get you are there part 2, but this new set of albums is gonna be such a change for them that i wouldnt presume to know what to expect. i mean one of the songs theyve released (where we begin) is straight up shoegaze. not at all what youd expect from mono.

there isn't a single track on this album i like, gyro, so yeah for me it's about right

and no, i haven't liked either track much, minty. both seemed too one-dimensional. but hey, they might more sense in the context in their respective albums so i'll give both records a try when they drop./back
