I'm fairly sure he'll continue making his typical garb after this. But damn he's losing his ability to make that even remotely interesting. Its like he's copying his imitators.
But then the question is will he be so warmly embraced now that he's displayed his intentions to want to do something else? And even if that is the case, how but only the dumbest of his fans want look at him and think to themselves that he's clearly on it for the money and fame if he would so quickly return to a sound simply because it's proved more commercially viable? Is he in it for the music, or....?

Skrillex has become that guy. The guy who impulsively falls for any trend and tries to mimic it in his own way; leaving the gaping and gore filled wounds to never heal.

Or is this just a response to the negativity and him going "hey guys, I can do this minimal shit as well! Hey Quietus, where's my feature?"

Consisting of only three songs, one of which is just a medley of his past big singles, even Sonny Moore himself admits they were put together “last minute”, before immediately being chucked up onto the internet for consumption.
Also, how is this an acceptable excuse? If they're not ready don't release them. Don't anticipate negativity, make sure that doesn't happen. The big joke, apart from the very obvious influences, is that it sounds so amateurish. I've heard better stuff on Soundcloud; hell, Reark has better loops than this

Probably, but he did have his moments on his first couple EPs

I don't give a flying fuck what kind of music he creates. Sonny has never, ever failed to bring us incredible tunes.

@deviant, that was my conclusion in the end

I've given the whole thing a listen and here's what I think:
I honestly don't really mind "Leaving" itself. For me, someone who's listened to (and enjoyed) GoingQuantum's "Liquid Dubstep" podcasts, it sounds like a slightly weak version of some of the stuff in there. It's not really deserving of a 1 IMO (though I've yet to listen to a release in full that was), though it's in no way particularly good. I don't really think of it as a Burial ripoff, I think (hope) that Moore knows enough about his stuff to not try it out too much since it would fail miserably. And I don't think "Leaving" is quite that bad. Granted, I gave the whole release a 1.5 because if "Leaving" were any worse than a 2 or 2.5/5, this would in fact be a 1 release - "Scary Bolly Dub" is like a shitty version of "Fallout" by The Others and Emalkay, and "The Reason" is flat-out boring. I just don't think that though "Leaving" is bad, it's not quite as bad as people are saying. Then again, that might be whatever's left of my inner Skrillex fanboy saying that, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt.

Good review btw, have a pos - think I forgot to do that earlier.

To be fair I think the Burial worship tracks are much better than the fucking shit that is Scary Bolly Dub. That's like the worst song I ever heard

You say "shitty version" like 'Fallout' isn't a bad track as well ;)

Call me crazy but I think Fallout is a fantastic song. Sure it's cheesy but it's incredibly well-done cheese that's one of the best heavier songs of 2012 IMO.

"Just saying you're late to the party IMO, new things are already a favorite. Here the people have moved on to trap, something a bit slower but still bass heavy."
trap has been around since the early 2000s and is far past its peak popularity.

I disagree, but the stuff I think he's referencing isn't "proper" trap per se, more the electronic bass-heavy hip hop stuff that's doing the rounds now. TNGHT, Rustie etc
