how is it more mature than cosmogramma

Its not in your face and explosive. Its calmer, gentler and more jazzy

i wouldnt say its more jazzy. im not sure being calmer and gentler makes it more mature either. taking the concept and how innovative cosmogramma is i have to say its a lot more mature than this album. i love this album to pieces, but it comes off much more naive than anything hes made after it. its carefree and doesnt push any boundaries, its just really well done instrumental hip hop/glitch. its after this record that he started dealing with really complex topics and integrating his jazz influence into his take on electronic and hip hop in a unique and original way.

I would say though that innovation =/= maturity. Granted, this isn't more jazzy than cosmo youre right, theyre both jazzy as fuck. This album garners a great moonlit midnight feeling to it while cosmo gives more of a cosmos, space feeling. Also youre right this doesn't really push any boundaries, its just superb beatmaking made using a very simple formula. I think that's why I love it so much, its so simplistic and I think a sign of maturity is being able to use a little and create a lot of that tiny bit.

im not saying innovation = maturity im just saying thats one aspect of why it sounds more mature to me. specifically tho the themes he's dealing with and the way he incorporates jazz into his take on electronic is what makes it sound mature

I definitely wouldnt say more Jazzy. Its alot more hip hop orientated. If this came out after Cosmagramma you would probably feel a little let down and be seen as going backwards.
As it is this probably changed my life. Shame he said no to a damn photo with a friend of mine! that always sticks with me but Ill kind of let him off.
This and his essential mix on BBC was a game changer for me.

I saw him when he wasnt so big with about maybe 100 people, My best friends next to me, Off my face on MDMA. Fly was absolutely battered too. He dropped etched headplate by burial in the middle of his set and I crumbled. One of my fave all time dj sets.
