After I rediscovered Age of Consent I was like whats even the point of Arcade Fire and then realized they covered it at one point lol

"insane how True Faith/1963 is like the best single of the decade and they're both just chilling on some random singles comp like it's nothing"
Yeah I really hate how True Faith is not on an album. It's a single so at least it did get the attention it deserved.

Substance obviously is great it's just wild how every classic NO album is like 8 songs and 35 minutes long but they still didn't put songs that good on any of them. kinda based though I suppose
pretty much all their standalone singles in the 80s are their classics lol. only a few album tracks like Age of Consent or Your Silent Face stack up for me

i dont think i ever heard the album version until today and wow it is quite a bit better than the version on substance

Yeah the album version is god mode. Easily one of my all time favourite songs.
The Shep Pettibone remix is sick too.

I'm glad the albums don't have that many of the singles, I don't get sick of the albums that way. I put on Substance when I want the singles.

It’s pointless listening to NO’s Substance when you can jam the studio albums with non-album singles added as bonus tracks. It just gives you a better idea about what the band was up to at that point in time. Not even the fact that Substance has 12” versions changes it for me. JD’s Substance is the only Substance as far as I’m concerned.

Some of us play mostly the original vinyl albums. So NO's Substance has a real role to play there.

Yeah, I get it. But releasing bestofs still sucks, even if there’s few non-album singles. That’s not a critique of NO, but of the music industry.
