this is probably exactly the album most Queensryche fans wanted to get. and that makes it even more decent

I hope the courts make both bands drop the Queensryche moniker, because either one of these bands calling themselves Queensryche is silly. Alice in Chains, Amorphis, Atheist, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Carcass, Fates Warning, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Dream Theater, Emperor, Underoath.... all of these bands lost at least 50% of their members and continued on. What's the difference?

Geoff and Chris were Queensryche. Period. Don't need to explain this to you Willie. Only one of those bands you mentioned are (were) on the same stratosphere as Queensryche, who were pretty much capable of playing hockey and basketball arenas as a headlining act. That's the difference.

I just rattled those names off the top of my head. Three of these guys were founders of a band that has lasted three decades. Just because their vocalist went off the deep end doesn't mean they should have to quit their love and livelihood.

album is something

"in the kind of way that makes VH1’s Behind the Music executives moist in their undies"
Fantastic.

Geoff Tate and Rising West, as band names, would've suited just fine and no they shouldn't quit making music. Jackson and Rockenfield are simply hired guns collecting a paycheck. Wilton I will give you as a longtime contributing songwriter, BEHIND Tate and DeGarmo. You know it Willie. Now you have Parker Lundgren getting writing credits.

Geoff Tate and Rising West, as band names, would've suited just fine True. But the average fans that only look for Queensryche would have never known and the band would lose income and have to play smaller venues. Also, regardless of how much or how little they put into the actual writing, they did put their own styles into it (Rockenfield more than Jackson, probably) as well as thirty years of work in other ways.
You know it Willie. Now you have Parker Lundgren getting writing credits. I personally thought it was cool that he contributed instead of being left out.
BEHIND Tate and DeGarmo. You know it Willie. I agree, but the dynamic had to change and they've managed to step up.

They will only be playing small venues either way.

Possibly, but they have a better chance with a name that has been in use for 30 years.

The band split from their vocalist and the judge said they can all use the band name until November... so you have the vocalist's version of Queensryche (Which has already been released) and the rest of the band's version... this album.
