For me the instrumental performance here is almost top-notch. However, the one thing I just can't get into is the vocals, which despite sounding awesome when the guy screams, are otherwise a bit ludicrous compared to how well each instrument is played. The guitar work is obviously the focal point here, working up solos which are really beneficial for each song, but the drum rhythms can be awesome too, as on 'Laniatus' and 'Saturation'.

Weirdly, this could almost pass for a modern deathcore album, like something Born of Osiris would make. Whether that's a good thing or not, it's up to the listener to decide lol.

calling van drunen's vocals on Malleus and Consumed "respectable" is like saying
"Neil Peart is a decent drummer"

They are returning for next year. Hopefully they will hire a new vocalist cuz Patrick Mameli is a shitty one.

A better vocalist won't forgive them for shitty music
