The album starts extremely strong (the first five songs are among Tool's best material), then plummets downhill.

I havnt gotten this album but i ve heard one song.. not vicarious.. it was fuckin amazing i think its called 'marie' i dont know why people dont like this album ill have to get it because anything by these guys just HAS to be good, honeslty i havnt heard one bad track produced from tool and ihave their last two albums. Also some debate that its a completly differnt approach, yeah well look at the change of styles from aenima and latrelus. Its just something we as fans of this band have to adapt to and by slowly listening and noticing the colaboration of talents we all know that just like all tool fans we will get addictted to their music like the other albums.

Just give it some time, i know even I wont like it at first but ill be listening to it in my sleep before i know it.

Is is just me, or does "The Pot" sound like it has the singer from Maroon 5 singing at the beginning. I know its Maynard, but damn...sounds just like M5 (who is no good, btw).

This is the best review I've seen of the album so far. Tool are a band that I really can't be bothered with, but great review nonetheless.

Very nice review.

I have to say that Vicarious is one of the worst songs on the album. Not saying its a bad song, saying that the album is brilliant.

Listen to Rosetta Stoned a few more times and you will love it. It was so much to offer. Right in Two is amazing as well.

'Vicarious' is a classic. And great fun to play on guitar.

Point is, it's a great album.

It's not genre redefining to any great degree, it's not as groundbreaking as people have thought some of their other releases to be.

Fact is, it expands on their sound, and it sounds good, and has some of Tool's best material on it. Great, amazing album.

^ i tend to agree. I bought this album the other day. And the day i bought it, I couldn't help to listen to it over and over. But the more I listened to it, the more I found flaws about it. For ex. the song Lost Keys, Intension, and the closing song Viginti Tres, were all the lows for me. You would think if Tool had been working on this album for about 5 years, that they would be able to find or make a better closing song than Viginti Tres, which is basically a 4 min. display of sounds. No instruments. But instead of those couple songs, this album is pretty damn good. Lost Keys and Intension were just a bit boring IMO.
