i can definitely see why people don't like this type of music but this easily seems more creative and memorable than the rest of the flock

Agreed 100%. It's what made me know I needed to hear this.

Awesome review sowing. Frankly this album has been on repeat for me this week, I'm actually surprised at how much I love this. I didn't mind the filler tracks like polarize and hometown, and my favorite song (which I'm surprised you didn't mention) is "the judge."

Thank you! I actually thought The Judge was kind of forgettable (not bad though). I prefer the tracks at the beginning to almost everything else save for Goner, which I still feel is the best song here.

i love your reviews and usually share similar opinions on stuff. so i look out for your write ups. Not here though. The review is nicely written. I think im just too old and my experiences with the rap rock "music" is too jaded. it almost always ends in a pile of burning poo.

Well fantano gave this a 4/10, and without fail, the average dropped just a tad.

Album and review both rule. Best TOP release ever. "The Judge" is absolutely fantastic.

Being a contrarian, because reasons: I disagree on one point, that there is no filler. "Tear in My Heart" is your standard issue "radio friendly single." It is somehow the least inspired song. "Heavydirtysoul" and "Stressed Out" and especially "Lane Boy" on the other hand are gems. Absolute diamonds.

Yeah I love this album, I think Vessel is more consistent but Goner, Polarize and Heavydirtysoul all rule. It could probably stand to be about three tracks shorter though. Great work Sowing...the comments are all proving your point about how love/hate this band is.

Hometown and Doubt could easily be thrown out of the album.

Seriously, I dont know if it was Tyler or Josh, but whoever decided those stock "YEAHS" in the chorus of Doubt were needed needs a kick in the face.

I can't help but have many of the lyrics come across to me as conceited. Time after time having lines such as "music today lacks heart" and "you'll never hear this on the radio" seems patronizing.

This album has more heart than a lot of music today, so that isn't all that ridiculous of a line. I mean, just listen to 'Goner.' That makes me feel something every single time I hear it. I still say it's the best on here although most don't seem to agree.

Regarding the "you won't hear this on the radio", this album is clearly mainstream even if it's a genre hybrid, so it's something of a dumb line.
