""How is this band labelled as black and death metal?""
there's death metal, though in some areas there's less of it here
no black metal really tho, kids just think so because there's symphonics which make them think of cradle of filth and dimmu borgir

Nice review, holmes. I've never heard these guys, but your write-up gives me reason to believe I should change that.

"How is this band labelled as black and death metal?
I found this album under those genres and expected it to be something along those lines, and it sounds like damn metalcore."
Lord of Woe has a lot of black metal influence.

I remember it being the most generic of all three releases, but none of them really have anything black metal about them

I think it does. Songs go a bit long, which is another thing they rectified here.

Listening now. After two tracks I can't seem to find a black metal influence.
To be fair though, bands like Assemble the Chariots do have a strong one.

Shit, gotta say this album is sweet. A huge improvement over Neverbloom. Much, much more varied, dynamic and interesting. Neverbloom had painfully boring breakdowns painfully often, to the point of being a chore, there's none of that shit here.

why do deathcore albums keep getting such high ratings on sput

Nice review, but I have a few things to mention. I liked the review, but it did feel a bit blocky between some sentences. I feel it's relying too much on track to track analysis. Nothing wrong with how it's written though, very clean.
Also about the album, I don't see entirely the purpose in condemning the band for the breakdowns. It always feels amongst reviews that it has to be the reason the album is being held back, here I don't see it being the case. Fantastic album though, Let Me In stands above most the album. Incredibly beautiful work.

'why do deathcore albums keep getting such high ratings on sput'
Because, every so often there is a good deathcore album- more-so recently. I know most deathcore is terrible and sounds the same, but it is a disservice to yourself if you believe ALL of it is terrible and sounds the same.

Pretty sure all the deathcore features have been from me lol. I'm an old school fan and I still way the banner proudly even if my taste has drastically expanded.

thx for the criticism, though stating "blocky writing" as a negative and then later saying it was cleanly written doesn't make much sense.
as to the your complaint about my listing breakdowns as a negative, if you look through reviews I've done of bands that utilize them you'll see that I don't take breakdowns as an automatic negative. It's all in how they're used. I like a good breakdown as much, or maybe more, than anyone. I just felt that on "Blood Moon" and "Fake" for instance, they flounder in the chug a lugs and lack anything to carry the song. The keys are noticeably absent in the former track which really brings it down.
