I'm not a death cab fan and I just couldn't stand the song, it didn't help that our radio stations played it every other damn song.

not gonna lie those unforgivable lyrics are awesome. they are like a caricature of this nostalgic era these stupid ass 90's kids are pushing.

Well even if that song was actually trying to criticizing that culture, the cheesy ass lyrics take any chances of redemption and throw them out the window. However, I'm 100% sure that the song is just pandering to that group of people by writing a brainless song about how "AWESOME" the 90's were without giving any context to why these things are looked back on so fondly.

Early bird catches the worm, I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯

But seriously, I'll probably never write a review as amazing as yours or Adam Knott's Owl City reviews.

oh i don't think the song is trying to make a statement I think its the equivalent of a jack-n-the-box commercial using some trendy term showing how dumb it actually is and making it uncool.

"The track tells the story of a father being forced to leave his young daughter, and the daughter being forced to cope with his departure and eventually understand why he had to leave."

Interstellar?
