"Her new look is uh... something" [2]
Yeah I hate to say it but she's had a rather disappointing career arch since this album. Like I can't imagine someone telling me in 2015 that all she would do for the next SEVEN years was one boring album, a few (better) b-side EPs, a Kate Bush cover, and then whatever you call HTIS.
Seems she's still trying to find her identity as an artist after all this time

Agreed.

Also can't help but think this album woulda been a way bigger deal had it been released today as opposed to 2015, given the sorta rock guitar-revival happening in the mainstream rn. Desire is a trending tik tok song even

MGK, Olivia Rodrigo, maneskin, Willow etc. putting out some of the most viral songs of the past couple years... and meg at her best does that sound better than all of them easily.
Hard to say this album was "before its time" as it obviously isn't all that innovative but listening back rn makes me feel like it was tailor made for the 2020s

For "Desire", "the morning after", "Lemon eyes" and "Feather". But perhaps Meg Myers' finest song to date remains the haunting "Motel."
