Well yeah, it's not a straight up return to their neo-classical sound, but it really is a conglomeration of everything they did from Something Wild to Hate Crew that I mention here. The keyboard solos especially remind me so much of that earlier sound. Alexi's guitar tone is definitely lower than at least the first two albums...that would explain the tonal difference at least. But after listening to all of Bodom's material quite extensively over the past decade, this is easily the closest they have come to the sound of the original three albums.

As for Halo of Blood, that was the album which should have been released following Hate Crew. It definitely had the vibe of that record with a smidge of Follow the Reaper.

Lets get over with the fact that the band members aren't in their early twenties and obviously cannot fully replicate a sound that is immature in their eyes and for some extent I do think they are "teenager stuff". Bands like Amorphis and DT can go back into time because their music are already mature and the bands can cope with it without making them feel nauseous.

The cover song came from an Amophis/CoB split from a while ago. They did "Everytime I Die", if anyone's interested in hearing that.

CoB won't return to the sound of the first three, but Halo and this are indeed the closest to it, for all it's worth.

Halo of Blood was cool. Thought you haven't jammed this band at all. If you liked AYDY or the stuff before it, then listen to it.
