Am I the only one who really likes "High Enough To Carry You Over"? The tonal change into something stupendously jolly is much needed at the middle part of the album and the guys vocals have immensely improved since Bones.

right!? high enough is easily one of the best songs on here.

Every Open Eye is way more consistent than Bones in my opinion. For me, Bones trails off after Lies and only Recover really excites thereafter. But the highs on Bones are higher than the highs on Every Open Eye. To my ears it comes down to intermittent brilliance versus consistent very goodness. It's a bit of a tie at the moment.

"she’s a damn good musician who deserves nothing but our collective respect."
Was that apparent?

Great review sowing, enjoyable read and I agree with most of it. That love note to Lauren Mayberry at the beginning kind of ruins it imho.

High Enough to Carry You Over is very good. Every track on here is so strong pretty much.

Clearest Blue is the only song here I really think tops anything from their debut

Have to say High Enough to Carry You Over is the only song I skip, tedious male vocals aren't what I want from Chvrches

"dece review apart from the misplaced + unnecessary white knighting @ first paragraph"
Not sure "white knighting" and "noting redundant information" is in the same category but yeah.

Yeah High Enough is pretty weak

I like it, I think it is the perfect change of pace. Keeps Lauren's vocals sounding fresh during the second half.
Also, what's wrong with complimenting Mayberry? Some are acting like it ruins the review, but nothing I said about her isn't true.

Also, whoever said that the albums represent momentary brilliance versus consistent goodness really hit the nail on the head. Both records are about tied IMO.

Yeah this is more consistent. Bones was also a tad too long imo.
