alright!
well the album specifically is at least 20 minutes too long, is mind-numbingly repetitive, brings nothing new to his repertoire other than a half-hearted embrace of dancehall, and has awful lyrics.
is that better?

"remind me where i said it gives him a pass"
the fact that you 5'ed it kind of implies as much

it really doesnt. all it implies is that i really like the album, anything else u infer from that is projection on ur part

and no, of course it's not a lyrical hip-hop album.
yet I get the impression that Drake believes it is.
perhaps that's why I find it so obnoxious. he's always given off the impression of someone who isn't half as insightful or profound as he believes himself to be.

so
you either think the lyrics are quality
or
you don't give a shit about the lyrics at all
which is it? just trying to understand ur perspective

if only things were as black and white as that
i think the lyrics are quality at points, and not so good at others

but this isnt meant to be some lyrical masterpiece of an album so the bad lyrics arent that detrimental to the overall experience

I have to ask, not in a hostile manner but out of sincere curiosity.....what exactly about this album appeals so much to you?
even with most albums that I don't like, I can understand why someone else might really dig it. but I just can't figure it out with this one.
idk, maybe I'm just getting old

it's like everything i like about drake distilled into one album ffrom the rnb joints to the pop hits to the anthems, the immaculate production etc. it's the ultimate summer cruising album imo. i'll post a review soon that will be in more depth if ur interested
i got a question for u tho. given ur taste in hip hop, what compelled u to even listen to this? even stevie wonder could see u'd never like it

I will certainly be interested to read your review if you post it.
My view of Views the opposite. I think it's all of Drake's worst qualities distilled into one album....all of his simultaneous self-pitying bullshit and empty "I'm the greatest" puffery. Not to mention the underlying misogyny.
And I think this is, by leaps and bounds, his least interesting and diverse release from a sonic perspective.

And to answer your last question, I checked this out because I dig plenty of Drake's past material.
I think Take Care is one of the definitive albums of this decade, and I still listen to it quite often.
I enjoyed If You're Still Reading This... quite a lot, as well.
How do you even know what my taste in hip-hop is, anyway?
