personally, i would say no. they don't really do post rock except sometimes moments of their music do slightly resemble that style. this album however is a far cry from anything even close to that sound.

The other day I caught my brain speculating on the likelihood of whether this could be on some level a ruse/test/secret joke/prank/social experiment, like- if we put out something mediocre will Dotbangers still call it genius?
Never thought I'd see the day when Kayo Dot released something I'd even dream of considering mediocre, but I'm starting to accept that I think that's finally happened.
@Dappnoid, nothing at all like Mono, but if that's your angle and you're curious you might want to start with Choirs of the Eye.

its not a joke; all of their records are stigmatized to some degree, even choirs and dowsing to an extent, especially when they first came out. they either resonate with you or not. just like saying choirs, bld, gamma, are a joke. take your pick. they are all exceptionally performed/ composed works of music. just because one sounds the worst to you, doesn't mean they are any less genuine than they were 13 years ago.

AaS, yeah for sure, that's just the automatic mindstream talking. But it's telling that something about this is just registering as weirdly off-duty on an instinctive level. I wouldn't even really say it doesn't resonate, or I just don't like it. Maybe I need to put it on the shelf for a while.
