sweet review.

by the way, if you're new to black metal you might also want to check out some Immortal (Battles In The North/Sons of Northern Darkness) and Satyricon (Nemesis Divina)

Darkthrone are another black metal band ive downloaded some songs from and i liked it alot so i was wondering if this cd would be the best one to buy of theirs first and if not this one wich one would be best to start with?

Get this one and A Blaze In The Northern Sky, as they are both essential albums to someone's black metal library. If you like what you hear, you should check out Under a Funeral Moon also.

I like this CD, I have not listened to it enough to fully judge how i feel, I love the way the title track flows though, simply yet totally awesome, I think i prefer Blaze though. This one has more standout tracks but Blaze flows better if you ask me. I have actually not heard Funeral Moon;

The title track is the most hypnotizing song I've ever heard.

I definitely need to pick this up; I heard it more than a few times, and loved it, but never quite got around to buying it...shame on me.This Message Edited On 08.26.07

*sigh*

Varg didn't perform on this disc NOR write any music. He only provided the lyrics for the second half of the album.

Great album, but Under a Funeral Moon is where it's at for me.

This album along with Nattens Madrigal by Ulver are the two best Black Metal albums ever. People say the bad production is a bad asset. Well i think it only helps this album. It wouldnt be the same with good production. And the title track might be the same riff over and over with the same drum beat, but that shit is classic.

I love the hypnotic repetition on this album, it has such an amazing effect on the listener.

I agree. Most people would think that a repetitive album would be boring, but with this its perfect. I couldnt imagine this album any other way than how it already is.

Translyvanian Hunger is one of the strongest openers i've ever heard. That riff is infectious. Rest of the album isn't too shabby either. Glad I got this.
