This has grown on me hard.

"'great singer' - never watch them live if you really think that"

I've seen them live twice and had no problem with his vocals. Not as pristine as on record, but he still sounded solid.

I watched some live vids on YT.. really hard to tell without hearing it live but he sounds okay? His screams sound on point for sure. His singing sounds a little out of tune though definitely. Either way I don't care or see why that would detract me from liking this album.

can't see how someone could watch those live vids on youtube and not think he as just "okay" at best(!) but below average most of the time. even BMTH sounds better live.

After several listens, I still think that their debut is much better. This album is a bit more consistent, but the songs that are good on the debut are really damn good, whereas the songs that are good on this are just that: good. I don't know how else to word that

Starting to like this more than their debut tbh. Fewer excessively poppy and clean moments, and better production and songwriting. Not sure if anything matches "The Deep End" or the title track, though.

Have you actually seen them live?

Nah but several different videos from different days probably say more than seeing them live a single time, I guess. Don't get me wrong I like this album, but when I first heard the songs I already thought "oh man I would be surprised if he'd actually hit that notes live". I wasn't surprised unfortunately.

Eiley is one of the best songs of the year.

I might be in the minority here, but I'm really digging Sympathy. Nerve Endings was my favorite track off the last album by a long shot, so I guess an overall darker tone is a welcome development in my book.

Why should you be in the minority? Most of us dig this.

This actually grew on me. Still prefer the debut, but this is a pretty good album.
