I remember seeing this band open for Envy on the Coast years ago in a small venue. That was during Stick Up Kids. They put on a great show. Never really kept up with them after that. Guess I should have.

At times the vocalist gets close to a male version of Skin (Skunk Anansie).
The two bands sound different but what I like and don't like is the same with each - some of this is undeniably powerful...and the rest hits a level of cheese that's distracting.

It's painfully cheesy.
I have no problem with them tackling the subject even if I don't agree with their take on it (What it Means by the Drive-By-Truckers is a good song with a similar message), but imo this just ended up so forced and clumsy.

Sure, have heard worse as well. Dunno just rubbed me the wrong way, maybe because I'm just comin off a Drive-By-Truckers high and "What it means" is just so much better.
