They've really evolved from then. This is more intense in every way.

this would be a 5 if they fixed up the second half a bit and added one or two more tracks like the first couple but this hit so hard anyways I can't really complain

I was in both PHP (partial hospitalization program) and IOP (intensive outpatient program) programs for a combined 4 months or so, so as melodramatic as blood from a stone was, it resonated with me. I wasn't there for as serious reasons, just the ending part really resonated with me. Almost done with the album and the second half does drag it down. The spoken word parts are reminiscent of Shane Koyczan in some ways, but they do seem cheesy at times. Unless this closer really blows my socks off, I think this is gonna be my third Old Gray at a 3.5.

whoo a Con review, hype. Cool concept, seems to hit the perfect line between talking about how a record really feels, whilst also touching on what it sound like. Also this sound amazing, got to check it. I think there should be a comma before 'both' in the final para, but I could be wrong. Pos

It's a really great blend of ferocity and beauty. Really works well given the subject matter.
Honest lyrics get a bad rep sometimes, but they're all too real here.

Those first few songs are amazing. They need to make a whole album like that. I have a feeling that their next album will be their best yet, or their worst. They need to balance the spoken word and screamo more. They've always been weaker on the second halves. The first half of An Autobiography is absolutely amazing, but then it's all kinda meh, except the closer, which seems to be the theme here as well. Hopefully on their next record, they can grow out of that.

I don't think the second half falters really, especially within context of the album.

Whenever I write lyrics myself, I usually stick to getting my thoughts out. It's more raw and emotional that way and honestly much easier to do. The words just come right out of your deepest, truest thoughts.
For the writer, it can be very therapeutic too and relieving.
