Cut off? You mean faded out too early? Well, Mr Humphries himself said he wanted to 'keep them wanting more' I suppose ;)
Nice rating btw Twig :D

Exactly, I want to hear that guitar solo, so I wish it didn't fade out so fast . . . Can't believe I've never heard of this guy before. I want to check out more of his catalog. Love the singing, songwriting and production. It's a solid 4.5 for me.

i like some songs at the start but i always turn this off by the midway point, don't find it too interesting. doof overrates anything chamber pop so ofc i didn't go into it expecting a classic

Lucid, I feel the opposite, most songs build to the point Eitzel can really lift his vocals in the second half but fair enough.
If people prefer the idea of Eitzel remaining understated throughout an entire composition he's done at least 15 albums like that so there's probably an album out there by him you'll prefer
Also bemoaning someone's ratings due to their taste seems odd and dangerously close to the objective/subjective argument

i was just being a little snide with that comment, we're all free to like what we like. "nothing and everything" caught my interest so I might enjoy a record in that vein

I remember when In Rainbows came out and I was really impressed that Radiohead had perfected/refined some songwriting ideas they'd been experimenting with on the previous albums. Some of the stuff sounded really reminiscent of previous songs but just now perfected.
For a huge Eitzel fan that's what this feels like.

As people here love Nothing and Everything so much I'll list similar Eitzel songs:
- Song of the rats leaving the sinking ship (off AMC 'love songs for patriots')
- My pet rat st. Michael (from Eitzel 'candy ass')
- the bill is due (from Eitzel 'don't be a stranger')
- sleeping beauty (from Eitzel 'candy ass')
- last harbour (from AMC 'california')
- never mind (from AMC 'united kingdom')
- what the pillar of salt held up (from AMC 'everclear')
- white rosary (from Eitzel 'caught in a trap')
- what do you got for me (from Eitzel 'klamath')
Add in 'Nothing and everything' and you have a decent ten track album of that particular style
