Is it just me or is House of Fire eerily reminiscent of a Vaccine song i can't quite place?

As much as i love the last line of Livin' Aint Easy, my only gripe with this album is that i would have preferred the TT being the closing track.

nahhhh braaahhh, each of their albums has a pretty distinct sound. first album is much more punk, second album they start getting those Americana vibes along with the nostalgic touch that theyre known for, Impossible Past took those things and dialed them up further, Rented World dialed down the Americana and kind of went for a bigger alt-rock sound with some ballads, and this is like a more straightforward pop punk kind of thing. definitely their catchiest and poppiest album yet.

their albums all have common traits of course, but i think they each have their own flavor.

i remember a long time ago brendan kelly (the lawrence arms) raving about these dudes on his blog. they'd just been signed to his tiny label and upon seeing him live he was like 'whoa, these guys are going to be something special.' he went as far to compare them to the fucking clash in terms of potential.

5 albums later they're living up to that hype imo. they have that spoon-esque inability to consistently release nothing but great albums. really happy for their success.

I dunno, to me his singing is pretty dominant, and also pretty one-dimensional (not that it's bad) and most of their songs end up pretty samey. Sure they have some development, but overall I think they are caught in the same sound. A lot of the "heartfelt" Alt-Rock band seem to have that problem tbh. (Gaslight Anthem comes to mind but when they tried to change it up they just bellyfloped, Deaf Havanna as well although I think they did better on their new LP tbh)

Also Spoon are a master of varying their sound just enough but oh well.

wasn't comparing them sonically in any way ftr. spoon's just the first (modern) band i think of when it comes to consistently putting out solid records over a long stretch of time.
