"My ambition is to find an album no one else on the site can stand other than me...this could be the one, I'm feeling it :D"
Sorry to disappoint . . . I'm a big fan of Antony & the Johnsons and the Dresden Dolls, crazy clown cabaret is right up my alley. :-)
"If you want to win, take Heroin"--love it.

Twig you never disappoint me, hope you like this.
Would be interested if you rate this or the similar 'Either Or' album higher if you've got the time to check them both.

Anatelier - I get the sneaky feeling you might prefer 'Either Or' to this, it's even darker

having listened to the whole thing, i'll say it's a little bit too long, and i don't know how much it'll beg repeat listens, but there are some killer songs. 'let's drink' is the definite standout.

Most of their albums are too long, definitely agree with you on that, the lesser songs do grow on you a little more over time though.
I'd understand someone just compiling together their standout songs. That's originally what I intended after listening to 'Either Or' a couple of times - it crept up on me though and eventually I ended up just downloading the whole album.
Definitely try 'Boredom', 'Nothing is Sin' and 'Tear Drops' off 'Either Or' as a taster of that album, I think that there are more standout songs on that one but I like the interlinking of the stories and themes here.

Either/Or is a more even album--great from beginning to end. I wonder if I listened to it first I'd like it better than Cold Night In Soho. It gets under my skin with the language (cum, cum, and more cum) and song themes (enjoying sexual abuse, abusing sex workers), but that's what they're all about--so it's a success. I've only one small complaint; it's too in control. It's missing the feeling that it could run off the rails at any moment. I had that feeling when I first listened to Cold Night In Soho.
Meanwhile... I see they made an album with Kronos Quartet. (the mind reels.) I have to check that one out.
