Yeah I'm thinking this is their best, but it's close with Tellurian.

I should probably give Tellurian a second chance, then.

You should, Tellurian is a really good album, was the album that got me into this band, with Tabula Rasa and The Words, the feelings and empathy I had with The Words were priceless for me, it was a sensitive time also, had some problems, maybe that added to the weight of the album for me. I think in numbers for me Tellurian is a 4 and this one would be a 4.2 If I could rate with that. Im with Talons, this is their best.

"Still gotta hear the debut."
the debut was my starting point, I had heard Lopez was in a new band and had to hear the material asap. heard the main singles before the album even came out

well this album is cerainly better than Opeth's last two, regardless of style. haven't listened to Soen's first 2 tho, was kinda repulsed by how similar some of their first singles sounded like Tool so I avoided them for years. I'm glad I checked out this album tho, it really changed my mind, will listen to the rest of their stuff soon.

Agreed with MO.

You have to admire Soen for their perseverance. I was taking a look at their first record, which sounded like a straight-up TOOL clone at the time, but now it sounds like Soen, they managed to make the TOOL sound their own. This is a solid 4.
