Well the thing is while he noted that there was only positive aspects about the album, he never acted like there was something that just blew him right the fuck away that would make the album an immaculate 5/5. This might sound strange but an album can perfect it's style and not be worth a 5/5, especially when you factor in personal opinion. Some people will like Immolation sludgy, sinister death metal approach more then Jac, some will like it less.

The review is his personal opinion and I don't give a shit about it, hence I didn't read it.

What I've been reading were comments about this outside sputnik saying this was their best since the album from 2000. So let's see if that's true.

I've been called out so I guess I have to explain myself. A rating is arbitrary, a simple score denoting how much I enjoyed the album relative to others. As much as people seem to think a review should be an objective assessment of an album, it's not; it's my opinion, merely substantiated with observations.



I don't really understand the idea that I have to list a bunch of negatives in order to justify a non-perfect score, especially when besides the production (which is still a massive improvement on KoC), there isn't a whole lot to complain about here. There are a couple guys on staff who write almost entirely with imagery and seldom mention negatives even when giving scores much lower than this, so idk what you expect.



Like Evo said, this is Immolation doing Immolation. I never claimed it to be their best album nor a masterpiece, so I think a score somewhere between 'great' and 'excellent' is fine. Don't like it? Write a counter review.

Yeah Jac I don't agree with the criticism. The tone is clearly, "this album is good, it is what you expect or possibly a bit better, 3.7." None of the praise was about the album being remarkable, thus the score and review make sense.

Plus we get so many of the same types of review on this site. I welcome something different even if it isn't radically different. Wasn't overly long either.
